This special capsule collection is a Rochas anthology, a considered assortment of the Maison’s iconic pieces and silhouettes.
Polka dots, which were very dear to Marcel Rochas, are given a modern update – they appear in the form of a micro animal print on flocked tulle and organza, or even as a micro shoe print mixed with macro polka dots on mohair and cashwool (a blend of cashmere and wool). The ‘pois’, as it is affectionately referred to at the Maison, is also in the shape of a ‘bon bon’ candy print on a smocked silk organza fabric and on the metallic “craquelet” detailing of princess shoes.
The Maison’s signature bustier and full skirt are an homage to Rochas’ heritage, but styled for today with varsity jackets and knits.
Experimentation with fabrics includes multi-layers of crushed velvet on tulle, used to create a tulip skirt and boxy jacket. Georgette and chiffon are behind the delicate detailing of a gown. The signature opera coat in duchesse is lined with a scuba neoprene, or revisited in a french silk tiger jacquard.
A vintage lipstick advertising campaign is embroidered on a cashmere sweater. Touches of broderie anglaise turn into the brand’s logo on a skirt, coat or dress, while floral brocades bloom in a palette of jewel tones such as ruby, emerald and sapphire on gold.
The ” avec la valise ” look is a tribute to Mme Helene Rochas. It also acts as an “adieu” to the ROCHAS of the past, ushering the brand into the new chapter of its journey with its recently appointed Creative Director Charles de Vilmorin.
